Deep Discipleship

Deep Discipleship is a one-year discipleship program that equips believers in three areas—God’s Story, Biblical Belief, and Spiritual Formation. By weaving together these three elements into a holistic approach to discipleship, men and women have the opportunity to grow in their love for God, Scripture, and His mission.

Cost: $40. You will receive a Deep Discipleship journal and digital copies of the 3 course books.

Childcare: $50 per child each semester with a maximum family cap of $100 per semester.

The Three Pillars of Deep Discipleship

God’s Story

The most fundamental and important claim in Christian theology is that God has made Himself known in Scripture. We’ll spend eight months working through major historical-redemptive events in salvation

history to come to a greater understanding of who God is and what He has done to reconcile the world to Himself in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Biblical Belief

All biblical beliefs and theology are rooted in what is revealed in Scripture. As the curriculum progresses through the Bible, a significant time will be spent teaching and articulating the major doctrines of the Christian faith, and we will see that doctrine is based on God’s Story and is foundational for all disciples of Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Formation

A major component of Deep Discipleship is considering how God’s Story and Biblical Belief function to shape and form us

into the kind of people who live in the world according to the way of Jesus Christ. In Deep Discipleship, we hope to form people into servants, worshipers, members, and disciple-makers who are fluent in the Gospel. 

WHAT IS THE DEEP DISCIPLESHIP PROGRAM?

THE DEEP DISCIPLESHIP CURRICULUM IS DESIGNED WITH YOU IN MIND

Deep Discipleship is built around three fundamental aspects of Christian discipleship: God’s Story, Biblical Belief, and Spiritual Formation. Throughout the year, we’ll spend significant time in Scripture examining the God who came to establish His kingdom. We will study the doctrines believers have held throughout the history of the church. Lastly, we will consider together how our participation in God’s story invites us into a life of worship and mission.

YOU CAN EXPECT 2-3 HOURS OF HOMEWORK AND A 2-HOUR CLASS EACH WEEK

The class meets once a week over two semesters. Class sessions are comprised of lectures, table discussions, and formation exercises. An important component of Deep Discipleship will be participating in a table cohort. Because we believe in doing theology in community, the year will be spent in conversation with this table about what is learned in class. Making a commitment to the table is a foundational part of the learning experience. Participants in Deep Discipleship will be asked and held accountable to faithfully attend class and complete assignments throughout the duration of the program from September to April. Each week will have required reading from the Bible and the books that are a part of the curriculum. Participants will be expected to complete written assignments as well throughout the program.

WE WILL MEET 25 WEEKS OVER THE SCHOOL YEAR

The program has a fall semester (September 14–December 7) and a spring semester (January 11–April 14). Deep Discipleship will take place at CrossPoint Church on Mondays from 6:30 p.m.– 8:30 p.m.
